The Salt Lake ColdFusion Users Group Message Board › Talk › Interest in CF9, Flex Cert Study Groups?

Its January and, once again, I have a number of resolutions that I may or may not get around to this year. One of those is updating my ColdFusion certification. I was certified on CFMX (6.1) and plenty has happened where I think it would be good to study up on all the new stuff that has happened since then. After plenty of dabbling I also want to get 'certification level' skills on Flex.
Is there anybody else in the SLCFUG that would be interested in pulling together a certification study group for either, say, starting sometime in February? Matthew Reinbold Creative Principal, Vox Pop Design, http://voxpopdesign.c... |

I would definitely be interested in a ColdFusion certification study group. I'd also be interested in a Flex one but my Flex skills are pretty beginner so I'd probably just watch dumbfounded most of the time.
I know Mel has expressed some possible interest in organizing/leading a CF certification group. Make sure to bring this up at the January meeting if I forget, I'd love to see this happen. |

The "CF Exam Buster" software offered by CentraSoft is an excellent way to study for the certification. However it's a per-person license, so it wouldn't work for a group.
I've already certified on CF8, so probably won't be as interested in participating. Especially since they've changed the process and you can now recertify on a new version of software for $25 at your desk rather than going in to a testing center: Recertification. |

I've been exchanging emails with Brian Simmons at CentraSoft, the CF Exam Buster folks. Currently there is no CF9 certification for software to be created for. He said that the CF8 exam came out roughly 5 months *after* CF8 was released. The CF7 exam was even longer. Obviously the certification test needs to exist before a software package can be geared toward passing it.
He also mentioned that there have been rumors of there not being a CF9 certification. While I'm certainly not against passing a CF8 certification (its been long enough since my previous test) there's enough new in CF9 I was hoping to use the test as a way of familiarizing myself with the new features. I'll update this thread if I get an additional information. Matthew Reinbold Creative Principal, Vox Pop Design, http://voxpopdesign.c... |
