ColdFusion Builder and Flex 4 hit Salt Lake like a well-integrated avalanche!

Update on the earlier Flex announcement, turns out we get ColdFusion Builder goodness as well!

ColdFusion Builder is the tightly-integrated CFML IDE ColdFusion fans have asked for for years. Flex is arguably THE premier way to create cutting edge, filthy stinking rich Internet application front-ends today.

Together, ColdFusion Builder and Flash Builder ( starring the Flex framework ) make beautiful beautiful harmonious music. Buy one in fact, and you get the other free!

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, April 14th, when Adobe Platform Evangelist Renaun Erickson will channel the beasts and demo us first hand how Flex, Flash Builder 4, and ColdFusion Builder 1.0 can help you deliver best-in-class web applications in record time.

Mass quantities of food, beverage, and raffle candy will be in desperate need of consumption. Multiple copies of ColdFusion Builder and Flash Builder will be raffled out! Maybe even a CS5 suite, who knows? Developer paraphernalia will be abundant. The blue and black magic starts at 6:00 pm, sharp. Please RSVP as soon as possible so we can purchase accordingly, thanks!

If I was a flash or flex guy, it would have been the highlight of my year. Renaun was knowledgeable, competent, and had a muted charisma as a presenter. However, the ColdFusion Builder stuff was an afterthought. It was almost like some stock slides from a ColdFusion presentation were thrown in at the end, and the comments improvised. Sadly not even a moment was spent on ColdFusion & Flex 4's allegedly tight integration. I would have enjoyed seeing Flash Builder magically inspecting a ColdFusion webservice, or viewing ColdFusion Builder create ActionScript classes for Flex. I had been excited about this presentation. However, the only thing that kept me there until the end was the prize drawings. And the guy from the Flex user group didn't even mix up the tickets, meaning that those of us who traveled far and came early had no chance of winning since our tickets remained flat on the bottom. Not worth the drive. I'm glad none of the guys from Logan made the long trip.

During questions it was obvious that Renaun Erickson knew a tremendous amount about the inner workings of flash (optomizing for animation, memory issues, constraints to be aware of, etc). However, none of that came across in the canned presos that he did. The mobile device demonstration amounted to "Hey, I have an iPad and here's flash running on it". The CFBuilder was a set of slides with bullet pointed features. Altogether the event wasn't anything more than what I could have gotten online. A good evangelist presentation not only conveys information but should get a person excited about the latest greatest. They should leave thinking they *have* to have the latest greatest because of the awesomeness they just saw. There should be amazed gasps. There should be spontaneous applause. There should be whoops of joy. Last night was just kind of meh. Thank goodness I hung around to talk with user group members - I got more outta that than the preso.

Not much time was spent on Coldfusion Builder. It would have been nice to see more of the differences between CF Builder and CF Ecliplse.
